Project type

Commercial

Location

Anchorage, AK

Client

Korean Air

Cost

$80 M

The project proposes a building program that embodies the essence of an exclusive, first-class hotel facility. Beyond the standard amenities of restaurants, bars, spa, and gym, a unique feature is a swimming pool at the top of the building, offering the most elevated, panoramic views available in the region. The 160,000 SF hotel will boast 200 luxury guest suites, each designed to provide a sense of exclusivity, along with over 10,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space.  The 7,000 SF of restaurants and bar spaces will offer a range of exciting dining and entertainment experiences from world-class restaurants, further enhancing the feeling of exclusivity.

The building's transparent glazing form anticipates the continuing growth of high-end commercial developments surrounding this urban site. For the building envelope, a double-skin façade system of glazing not only provides low energy consumption for building operation but delivers a luminous feeling and optimal view, promoting an environmentally conscious approach.

The building's base is designed to impress with a three-story atrium lobby and an elegant conference room. These spaces can accommodate grand receptions and large exhibitions, adding a touch of elegance to any event. On the other hand, the tower is composed of solid, concrete monoliths that support a stack of hotel floors with reinforced concrete floor plates and structures. They will also support a spa, sky bar, and a lush roof garden at the building's summit, providing a serene escape from the city's hustle and bustle.
